We have been contacted by our power provider the Indiana Municipal Power Agency(IMPA) that some residents and businesses within IMPA member communities have reported phone calls they’ve received from individuals identifying themselves as a Duke Energy employee or a third-party representative of Duke Energy. They’ve also claimed that Duke Energy owns IMPA. In some cases, the customer’s caller identification will even display Duke Energy’s name or phone number. The caller claims that the customer has been late on their payments and threatens to disconnect their electric service unless immediate payment is made with a prepaid debit card. The Lebanon Utilities will NEVER take or ask for money over the phone. We recommend that if you receive a call that you feel is a scam, hang up and contact our office (765-482-5100).
